A Serene Color Palette and an Open-Plan Living Space in a Stockholm Apartment
On the second floor of a turn-of-the-century apartment building in the Kungsholmen area in Stockholm lies this beautiful two-bedroom apartment where timeless materials are paired with period elements such as stucco, high skirting boards, and mirrored doors.
The apartment was renovated in 2021, adding a new kitchen and bathroom, and adding a soft color scheme with Jotun paints to the rooms. The 70-square-meter apartment has an open-plan living space in the center, with a balcony overlooking the lush courtyard.

Thanks to the L-shaped floor plan, the living space is open and spacious while still maintaining separate areas for cooking and lounging.

Double glazed doors let in natural light and open up to a charming courtyard balcony.

The serene color palette is paired with a combination of patterns, such as this H&M stool and the curtains.

The living room walls are painted in a light beige shade, paired with a blue-green ceiling (including the stucco), and high skirting boards painted in a golden beige hue.

A large wooden dining table connects the sitting area with the kitchen. The wooden floorboards show that this room was once divided into smaller spaces.

An old doorway is now fitted with bookshelves.

The renovated kitchen features custom-built cabinets with gray doors and chrome handles. It is paired with a composite stone countertop and integrated appliances.

The kitchen island adds additional work and dining space to the home. The sconce lamps on the light beige walls are from New Works.

Floor-to-ceiling cabinets along one wall provide plenty of storage space.

The IKEA Stockholm glass cabinets showcase the owner’s finest glassware and pottery.

From the living room, you move into the spacious master bedroom with a large window, warm white walls, and wooden floorboards.

The wood and marble bedside table features an orange and purple lamp from Ellos, adding a subtle color accent to the neutral space.

The second bedroom is located next to the living room, facing the courtyard. The small room features white walls, golden beige chest panels, and built-in shelves.

The small renovated bathroom features limestone tiles on the floor and walls. A mirror cabinet and an under-sink cabinet add storage space to the small room.

The open layout between the hall and the living area helps create an open, spacious feeling. Built-in wardrobes by the door keep the entry tidy, while hooks provide storage space for smaller items like bags.
